Welcome to our St Francis baptism page, we are delighted that you are considering having your child baptized here in Charlestown.
To have your child baptized at the St Francis, parents of the child must direct a letter/email requesting baptism including the details below:
Letters can be mailed to St. Francis De Sales office at 46 Winthrop St., Charlestown, MA 02129 and/or emailed to info@charlestowncatholic.org
Take some time beforehand to review your life and identify any sins you have committed. The priest will give you a penance, which is a prayer or act that allows you to show your repentance. There is a brief prayer, an act of contrition that expresses your sorrow for sin. The priest concludes by giving you pardon/absolution.
In collaboration with parents, we provide a two year program of preparation for children. In this program, the children prepare to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion beginning in the first grade and concluding in second grade.

In our archdiocese, young people are expected to prepare for confirmation during their high school years. Programs to help them grow in faith involve Mass, prayer, faith sharing, learning and service.
At Charlestown Catholic Collaborative, students should register as they complete 8th grade. Every year, Charlestown Catholic Collaborative provides Adult Confirmation classes for those who have not had the opportunity to receive this sacrament.
The Order (or Rite) of Christian Initiation for Adults is comprised of a series of presentations and discussions for those who wish to become Catholics that will prepare them to be received into the fullness of the Church through the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist, primarily celebrated at the Vigil Mass on the night before Easter. For Christians that have been baptized and desire to become Catholics, the process will prepare them to be brought into the fullness of our faith and receive Eucharist and Confirmation. See Fr. John to learn more.
Perhaps you- or a loved one- have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation- a series of presentations and discussions will prepare the candidate- they may choose receive the Sacrament at our collaborative celebration after Easter, or the Adult Confirmation Masses held during the year by the Archdiocese. See Fr. John to learn more.

Normally the funeral director will assist you in making arrangements with us. A priest or pastoral associate will then contact you to assist with the details of the Funeral Mass.
A Mass is the usual form of worship and the highest form of prayer for a Catholic. A funeral service is permitted under some circumstances but this should be done only after thoughtful discussion with a priest and family members, and not simply as a convenience.
